From the Japanese Room:

This term in Japanese lessons, our learning will connect with many classroom units of inquiry. Please see our Term 2 Overview for Japanese for more information.

To start off the term, the Receptions to Yr 2 students learnt about Kodomo no Hi or Children’s Day, a festival in Japan which celebrates children. Students participated in activities and games such as making a Koinobori (carp streamer), origami and Tonton zumo (paper sumo game).

Term 2 will see the Yr 5-7 students trialing the implementation of Education Perfect, which is an online language learning resource. We hope that this resource will be well received by students and provide them with engaging activities that can be completed in Japanese class time as well as at home if desired.

Host Families

Last term we received an overwhelming response from Rose Park families willing to host our Japanese sister school visitors early next term. If you volunteered, you would have received a Host Family Profile to complete and return to school ASAP. If you require a hard copy, please see the front office staff. As soon as we have profiles back, we will be able to begin the process of matching our Japanese visitors with their host families. Niki will be holding a Host Family Information Night later this term, date TBA.
