Karyn Byles

Karyn is a dynamic, collaborative, highly organised Early Years educator with twenty years’ experience, teaching in small, large metropolitan and regional schools. Her engaging pedagogical approach has enabled her to provide a learning environment that has high expectations with flexibility to cater for the diverse backgrounds of students, staff, parents, and school community. Karyn is committed to developing resilient, environmentally aware, and creative lifelong learners who have an ability to engage with a growth mindset approach.

Karyn builds strong and trusting relationships with students, by listening and acting on their feedback. Through promoting a positive and caring classroom climate, students feel valued because learning is celebrated, and everyone has a sense of belonging. She empowers students by co-developing personalised classroom essential agreements and having class meetings to discuss issues in preparation to validate student voice. Karyn develops professional and collaborative relationships with parents by employing an ‘open door’ approach with a service culture orientation.

Karyn feels honoured to teach at Rose Park Primary School and is passionate about the school’s future direction. She is a valuable member of our school community and as an educator strives to inspire students to achieve their full potential, in all aspects of a holistic education.


Jo Hurn

After successfully working in industries other than education, Jo Hurn completed a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Pre-service) in 2011.  In 2014, she was nominated for an Excellence in Teaching Award.

Jo believes that strong, meaningful and honest relationships underpin her teaching practise.  This is evidenced by her positive approach to collaborative relationships with colleagues, families and students. These relationships have allowed her to learn and grow as an educator.

Jo is a continuous learner with a focus on improving the learning and lives of her students.  She has taught from Reception to Year 4 and been successful in leadership positions at Rose Park and Walkerville Primary Schools and in 2022, she led the implementation of the International Baccalaureate at Highgate School.  These roles have allowed Jo to gain a better understanding of teaching and learning initiatives from the Department of Education as well as planning for and implementing the essential elements of the International Baccalaureate.  

Jo is a committed teacher who is excited to be developing life-long thinkers who are confident and creative problems solvers and decision makers.

In her spare time, Jo is a bit of an adventurer.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends trying new experiences and exploring the natural wonders of our State.  


Tom Lynch

Tom is a graduate teacher who has been working in the Rose Park Primary School community since 2017; he has previously worked as an SSO (Curriculum Support) at Rose Park Primary School and at the Rose Park OSHC as Assistant Director. Tom completed his primary teaching degree at the end of 2019.

Tom is a passionate and energetic teacher who has a strong emphasis on building relationships with his students. Tom strives to be the best he can be, in all aspects of his life, and tries to inspire students to do the best they can do in their learning and life.

Away from the classroom, Tom is a passionate sportsman and plays SANFL football for the West Adelaide football club at a Semi-professional level. He loves travelling, and all sport. Tom feels extremely excited and honoured to teach at Rose Park Primary School.
