Sally Colburn

Sally Colburn is an accomplished teacher, rich in experience from teaching R-7 at various schools in her 15+ years as a teacher. Sally completed her Bachelor of Education (JP & P) at the University of SA and has taught at schools in the Adelaide Hills, Southern and Eastern suburbs.

Sally has followed her passion to learn more about Autism, Wellbeing and Positive Education, enjoying the challenge of sharing the Assistant Principal role in 2017. She thrived on the Wellbeing and Student Services experience in helping students and their families with Individual Learning Plans, writing support applications and assisting students with ‘big feelings’ and challenging behaviours. Sally has studied to develop a plethora of strategies that can be incorporated into her classroom, and children’s lives, to assist when needed most.

Sally has completed ‘Positive Education’ and ‘The Wellbeing Classroom’ training which have enriched her teaching pedagogy to further assist students and their families in times of need. Sally has trained in the MiniLit program which supports students to develop their reading skills. Sally has a keen interest in student voice and provides many opportunities for students to have their say and make informed decisions.

Sally is a proud Rose Park Primary School Old Scholar with long family connections to the school.


Jo Hurn

After successfully working in industries other than education, Jo Hurn completed a Bachelor of Teaching and Learning (Pre-service) in 2011.  In 2014, she was nominated for an Excellence in Teaching Award.

Jo believes that strong, meaningful and honest relationships underpin her teaching practise.  This is evidenced by her positive approach to collaborative relationships with colleagues, families and students. These relationships have allowed her to learn and grow as an educator.

Jo is a continuous learner with a focus on improving the learning and lives of her students.  She has taught from Reception to Year 4 and been successful in leadership positions at Rose Park and Walkerville Primary Schools and in 2022, she led the implementation of the International Baccalaureate at Highgate School.  These roles have allowed Jo to gain a better understanding of teaching and learning initiatives from the Department of Education as well as planning for and implementing the essential elements of the International Baccalaureate.  

Jo is a committed teacher who is excited to be developing life-long thinkers who are confident and creative problems solvers and decision makers.

In her spare time, Jo is a bit of an adventurer.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends trying new experiences and exploring the natural wonders of our State.  


Victoria McKinnon

Victoria is a highly skilled and innovative teacher who is passionate about developing students to be powerful learners who are global citizens and future thinkers.  She has over 20 years experience both as a teacher and leader in South Australian schools, and brings to Rose Park Primary a rich understanding of curriculum, pedagogies and evidence-based high impact teaching strategies.

Student emotional wellbeing underpins the success of the students in Victoria’s class. She builds a strong sense of community, where open discussion and mutual respect exists. She has high expectations and intentionally provides opportunities for all students to experience intellectual stretch and engage in the curriculum in a low threat, high challenge environment

Victoria is passionate about education and has a wealth of educational experience outside of the classroom as well, including her role as Senior Leader at the NAPLAN Marking Centre.

When not at school, Victoria loves spending time with her husband Aaron and their two children Harry and Poppy.
